Owen Tippett is one of five players taken in the first round of 2017 NHL Draft to play in at least one game this season. Entering Thursday, only Nico Hischier and Nolan Patrick — who went first and second respectively in the draft — have scored a goal.
Now, Tippett can add his name to the short list after his first period goal against the Anaheim Ducks.
Tippett's goal came on the Panthers' odd-man rush where Ducks goaltender John Gibson was left helpless. Panthers forward Jamie McGinn found the tenth overall pick streaking towards the net.
No. 10 in 2017 has goal No. 1 in the NHL.

Tippett has shown at the junior level that his scoring is what makes him so unique. Last season, the 18-year-old registered 75 points last year with the Mississauga Steelheads and led the team with 44 goals.
