The Colorado Avalanche walked out of Winnipeg with a 4-0 victory in the most unlikely of circumstances.
Just 31 seconds in, the Avs lost starting goalie Pavel Francouz following a collision with Mark Scheifele in the crease. Francouz laid motionless on the ice for a while before being helped to his skates and assisted off the ice by a trainer

When play resumed, it was not Philipp Grubauer, who is currently dealing with a lower-body injury, between the pipes. Instead, Colorado's 2016 fifth-round pick Adam Werner saw the first NHL action of his career.

The 22-year-old recorded his first NHL win and his first NHL shutout in a spectacular effort, blocking all 40 shots he faced through 59:29 of action against the Jets.
The Avs have now won their last three games after suffering through a five-game skid in which they went 0-4-1. On the flip side, Winnipeg had been on a tear lately, going 4-0-1 in their last five games before meeting Werner in the opposing net.
Colorado was brutally out-shot 40-25, but the goalies made the difference. Werner outplayed five-year vet Connor Hellebuyck for his first win and his first shutout on Tuesday.
