One of the best rivalries in hockey takes center stage in Brampton, Ont. today, as Canada and the USA meet at the 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship.

It is the final game of pool play for the two North American rivals, who both enter with perfect 3-0 records in Pool A after defeating Japan, Czechia and Switzerland.

It's a potential preview for the gold-medal game at the tournament. Since the Women's World Championship began in 1990, there have been 21 competitions to determine a world champion. Canada and the USA have met in 20 of those gold-medal matches.

For Canada, forwards Sarah Fillier and Blayre Turnbull are leading the way so far at the tournament. Both players have five points entering the contest on Monday. The Canadians' defense has allowed just one goal through three games at the tournament.

On the other side, the United States has been propelled by forward Taylor Heise and defenseman Carolina Harvey. Both players have recorded six points at the 2023 competition, and are a big reason why the Americans are outscoring their opposition 22-4 so far.

The victor of this game wins Pool A and gets the higher seed in the playoffs. The loser will finish second.
