The Boston winger and the Hurricanes goaltender got into it with 2:08 left in the second period. Kochetkov came out of his crease to pass the puck when Marchand gave him a cross-check in the back. After a slash to the shins and shove by Kochetkov, Marchand retaliated with a slash to the goalie's side.

The two were each given minor penalties on the play.
It was one of a number of altercations between the two sides on the night, which resulted in a 5-2 win for the Hurricanes to take a 2-0 series lead.
Kochetkov, the third-string goalie for Carolina, was forced to come into the game after Antti Raanta was injured in the first period after a collision with Bruins forward David Pastrnak. Raanta was hit up high by Pastrnak as he attempted to avoid the goaltender.

In his first postseason appearance, Kochetkov made 30 saves on 32 shots to grab the win. If Raanta is out, the 22-year-old may get his first career playoff start in Game 3. The Hurricanes are still without starter Frederik Andersen, who is dealing with a lower-body injury that has kept him out of the playoffs so far.
Bruins defenseman Derek Forbort was also given a $5,000 fine for high-sticking Teuvo Teravainen in the face. He had been assessed a double minor for high-sticking since it drew blood.

Marchand was fined the maximum fine allowed under the CBA, the third time this season he has received discipline from the NHL Department of Player Safety.
Marchand previously was suspended three games for slew-footing Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson in a contest on Nov. 28. He then received a six-game suspension in February for roughing/high-sticking Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry.
For those incidents, he was forced to give up $91,875 and $448,170.73 in salary, respectively.
