Best NHL prop bets tonight: Connor McDavid, Ilya Sorokin highlight top parlay picks for Wednesday image

The NHL's Thanksgiving deadline is fast approaching and teams are trying desperately to find themselves in playoff position as we head into the holiday season. That means everyone is motivated on and off the ice this time of year. As per usual, somewhere around 75-to-80 percent of teams make the postseason if they're in a playoff spot at Thanksgiving. With that in mind, we're also eager to make some cash to make our holiday gifts more special than ever.

Wednesday's slate presents some intriguing opportunities to do so and our overexcitement has created a menu of only overs. Last week's menu of unders went 3-0, with the lone over cashing as well. Things are expensive out there and based on what we're seeing from SuperDraft in the NHL player prop market, it seems they are more than willing to help pay for all our needs online and in-store.

SuperDraft users can win 3X the amount wagered if their two-legged player prop parlay hits. If all four of the props below hit, users will win 10x their entry. In other words, a $20 entry fee will yield a $200 payout. the more legs you add to your player prop parlay, the larger your potential payout becomes, but as the long odds indicate, completing a clean sweep is challenging.

Below, we'll break down four of our favorite player props for Wednesday night's NHL slate. Users don't necessarily have to parlay all four picks together, though. Instead, you could make separate two-legged parlays to increase your win probability or attempt to hit it big if all four picks come through.

Best NHL prop bets today: SuperDraft player prop picks for Wednesday

*10x potential payout if users parlay all four correct picks

1. Connor McDavid, C, Oilers vs. Kraken — OVER 3.5 shots on goal

The Kris Knoblauch era began with a bang as the underachieving Oilers crushed the disappointing Islanders with a 4-1 victory. McDavid had five shots in the contest and always has the puck on his stick. Coaching changes are never easy, but one thing they continue to accomplish is getting the best out of the players. The Oilers will try to make it 2-for-2 with Knoblauch behind the bench and face the Kraken for the second time in three games, a team that is giving up the fifth most shots in the league. McDavid only totaled two in that meeting and hasn't hit the over here that much in the new season, but the best player in the league will want to turn it up a notch for his former junior hockey league coach.

2. Ilya Sorokin, G, Islanders @ Canucks — OVER 27.5 saves

The Islanders are a mess and in reality, that's been the case for a few years. Lost in between some good seasons is the questionable decision making from the front office. They failed to capitalize on a window to win by opting to not add talent. They decided to buy last year when they should've sold at the trade deadline. And best of all, they fired Barry Trotz before last season to hire one of his assistants, Lane Lambert, instead. All of that contributes to a team stuck in the middle that is begging to bottom out and start over again. But their Vezina trophy finalist Sorokin is doing his best despite being peppered with shots continuously every night. He's covered this number in seven straight and is averaging 34.7 saves per game in that span. The Canucks are in the bottom half of the league when it comes to getting pucks on net, but New York is reeling. The coach is on the hot seat and his team has lost seven in a row. The hits will keep on coming.

3. Martin Necas, RW, Hurricanes vs. Flyers — OVER 2.5 shots on goal

The Flyers and Hurricanes just met up for a game on Oct. 30 and Necas recorded three SOG. That is conveniently the last time that Necas went over this number and was the fifth time in the last six that he did so against the Flyers. Long story short, Necas likes firing pucks at the guys in orange that come from Philadelphia. Carolina is shooting the puck like it's going out of style, more than anyone in the league. The Flyers aren't high up on the list in terms of shots against, but John Tortorella's group has given up 37 and 38 shots, respectively, in their past two, including 32 in their previous matchup against the 'Canes. Necas will have plenty of opportunities to go over this number and history indicates that he will.

4. Carter Hart, G, Flyers @ Hurricanes — OVER 29.5 saves

Hart is actually under this number in six of seven this year, with the only overcoming in his first game of the year. But as we noted earlier, the Flyers' netminder will have his hands full dealing with the team that has the most SOG to this point in 2023. As long as the Hurricanes keep firing, the odds are in our favor. Hart stopped 29 of 32 in their earlier meeting and is fresh off the food poisoning that knocked him out of action. The volume is there, now we just need him to stop the pucks coming his way.
