During the first period, Ducks' Derek Grant caught MacKinnon in the eye with his stick, and MacKinnon left the ice in a rush. MacKinnon didn't return for the second period as the team officially ruled him out for the remainder of the game. Grant didn't receive a penalty on the play.
MacKinnon enters his fifth season in the NHL and has four points this season.
After the Avs 3-1 win over the Ducks, head coach Jared Bednar confirmed that MacKinnon won't miss any playing time and will likely suit up tonight.
Nearly 24 hours after the incident, MacKinnon was on the ice for the Avs' matchup with the Dallas Stars.
