The Los Angeles Kings announced on Tuesday that defenseman Alec Martinez underwent successful surgery to repair a radial artery and two superficial radial nerves on his right wrist.
In the third period of Monday's 4-3 overtime loss against the San Jose Sharks, Martinez sustained a laceration to his wrist and was taken to Keck Medicine of USC.
The 32-year-old defenseman will be evaluated weekly and is expected to make a full recovery, the team said in a statement. No other timetable was provided by the team although TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported early prognosis is looking like a two- to four-week absence.
