"Preseason doesn't matter," and "it doesn't matter how you start, it's how you finish," are mantras football fans often utter about the NFL preseason games.

While some teams rest their starters and count the days until Week 1, young teams and rookies try to get off on a good foot with a preseason start.

That is exactly what Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels did. He looked composed walking into MetLife Stadium wearing a legendary Washington jersey of Redskins Super Bowl MVP quarterback Doug Williams who celebrated his 69th birthday on Friday, August 9.

He kept his cool on the team's first drive which ended on a keeper and stroll into the end zone.

Here are a few highlights of the Commanders' opening drive.

The first completion came out of the shotgun.

A gutsy throw into coverage was his second throw.

The Commanders have to be pleased with how Daniels is handling everything and playing in the opening minutes of their first preseason game on the road.
