One of the knocks on Washington Commanders cornerback Emmanuel Forbes in the 2023 NFL draft was his playing weight.

From the sounds of it, those concerns are a major thing of the past.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told reporters at training camp this week that the former first-round pick has packed on 15 pounds to his frame. As The Athletic’s Ben Standig noted, the outdated weight listing from the team has him at 173 pounds.

Based on the eyeball test, that extra weight is really helping Forbes during reps against the likes of Terry McLaurin already.

This is the sort of development the Commanders want to see away from the field and on it after the former Mississippi State standout struggled to the tune of a 50.9 PFF grade last year and was benched.

Now, Forbes’ task is to work his way back up the depth chart this summer and into next season, with the additional playing weight sure to help.
