The Washington Commanders are sitting atop the NFC East with a 4-2 record. And even after a loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Washington is in a far better spot than many expected them to be in at this point in the season. However, they were dealt a big blow on defense.
Star defensive tackle Jonathan Allen is out for the season with a pectoral injury, meaning the Commanders will be without arguably their best defender. How can they replenish that? Here are potential trades the Commanders could make to replenish the loss.
Calais Campbell, Miami Dolphins
Campbell can play all over the defensive line. Inside or outside, Campbell is still capable of making plays at the ripe age of 38. A rental for the rest of the year with the potential of a one-year extension makes sense for Washington.
Dawuane Smoot, Buffalo Bills
Smoot has been a solid rotational piece for the Bills this season. But with DeWayne Carter having a terrific showing against the Houston Texans, perhaps the rookie will begin to get more snaps. If that's the case, Buffalo could be open to moving Smoot for the right price.
Javon Kinlaw, New York Jets
Kinlaw signed a one-year deal with the Jets this past offseason, and gives them a strong pass-rush presence along the interior. That said, they already fired head coach Robert Saleh, and with a loss, they could be looking ahead to 2025. Send Kinlaw to the Commanders for a draft pick and both sides win.
