The Tennessee Titans saw quarterback Will Levis suffer a shoulder injury during the Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins that led to his early exit and the 2024 debut of backup quarterback Mason Rudolph.
Levis suffered the injury in the first quarter while diving for a first down on a third-down scramble. After the game, head coach Brian Callahan said that Levis' injury was hurting him "pretty significantly."
"He tried to come back, but it was bothering him pretty significantly in his shoulder. So I made a decision to hold him out," Callahan said. "Ultimately, I knew what kind of game it was going to be. With the bye week next week, I didn't want to expose him to any further risk."
So, can the Titans expect Levis to be ready to go for Week 6?
Will Levis injury update
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Levis is expected to be fine following the shoulder injury that he'll have an extra week to heal up from thanks to the bye in Week 5.
#Titans QB Will Levis, who was held out of the MNF win with a shoulder injury, should be fine when the team returns from the bye, sources say. At that point, as coach Brian Callahan said, he’s the starter.

There was some speculation that perhaps the Titans would make a change under center, seeing as how Levis has struggled and the team won its first game with Rudolph at the helm. However, that won't be happening.
"I appreciate Mason's professionalism, and I appreciate how prepared he was, and ready to go into the game," Callahan said. "But Will is our starting quarterback. I said it last night, and I'll reiterate it again: When (Will) is healthy, he is starting. And, hopefully he's healthy for Indy and we're ready to roll, and he's the starting quarterback."
"It's hard to play quarterback in the NFL, as everybody knows," Callahan added. "There does take some development, guys make young-player mistakes, you see it all across the league right now. And, we're going to find out everything about Will that we can. And, he's going to continue to grow and get better and play better. He needs to play better for us. And, at the end of the day, I believe that he will.
"That's where I am at with that whole thing. There is no controversy. There is no second-guessing. That's what is happening. That's probably as clear as I can state it."
When the Titans emerge from their bye, they'll be looking at their first divisional game of 2024 in a Week 6 tilt against the Indianapolis Colts.
