Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears showed several instances of explosiveness in 2023. The now second-year man out of Tulane will have a much larger workload in 2024 now that long-time running back Derrick Henry is in Baltimore, and one NFL analyst loves the outlook for the shifty dual-threat.
Josh Edwards of CBS Sports released his All-Breakout Team for the 2024 season, and Spears earned a spot as the team’s running back.
“Spears spent most of last season backing up a running back literally and figuratively bigger than life in Nashville,” Edwards wrote. “He finished just shy of 500 rushing yards and 400 receiving yards. The team drafted J.C. Latham No. 7 overall and then hired renowned offensive line coach Bill Callahan to guide the unit. The Tulane product finished fourth in tackle avoidance rate among running backs with at least 100 carries last season (26.0%), according to TruMedia. Tennessee did sign Tony Pollard in free agency but that should not scare away those looking to invest in Spears' fantasy future.”
In an offense that has undergone a lot of changes, including the additions of Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd as well as new head coach Brian Callahan, it’s somewhat understandable why Spears has flown under the radar. However, it doesn’t seem as if he will be under the radar for much longer.
