The Tennessee Titans thought they struck gold during the 2022 NFL Draft when they selected cornerback Caleb Farley out of Virginia Tech. At the time, Farley was considered a top-10 pick but fell due to injury concerns.
Though Farley was a high-potential player coming out of college, injuries and tragic off-the-field circumstances have derailed his once-promising career.
Farley was released by the Titans on August 27th during roster cuts, but the 25-year-old found a new home on Tuesday.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Farley signed with the Carolina Panthers. Schultz added in his report that Farley will start on the practice squad but is expected to be elevated to the active roster soon.
Farley's career in Nashville didn't go as planned, but the former Hokie still has a ton of potential, and it's nice to see him back in the league after all the injuries and traumatizing situations he's dealt with over the last few years.
The addition of Farley is a much-needed move for the Panthers, as the team lacks depth in the secondary and doesn't have much youth in the position group outside of Jaycee Horn and Shemar Bartholomew. The acquisition of Farley is a nice low-risk, high-reward signing for Carolina general manager Dan Morgan.
