The Tennessee Titans have a head of stream going into their Week 6 game versus the Indianapolis Colts after securing their first win of the season in Week 4 before heading off into the bye in Week 5. In the win, neither wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins nor running back Tyjae Spears were impressive.
Hopkins had yet another disappointing performance, even in a game that saw the Titans score over 30 points for the first time in 1,000 days. DHop saw just four targets, which he turned into two catches for 31 scoreless yards.
Meanwhile, Spears saw a massive increase in touches with 17, but 15 of those came on the ground in a game that saw the Titans playing with a lead. Spears managed just 41 scrimmage yards but salvaged his day with a touchdown.
So, are we trusting either Spears or Hopkins in fantasy football lineups in Week 6? Let's see what the verdicts are.
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 6: DeAndre Hopkins
Hopkins' only good performance of the season came in Week 3, when he tallied six catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. Beyond that, he has just four catches for 48 scoreless yards in his other three games. Adding to that, his snaps are way down, with Hopkins averaging just 23 per game, which only makes him more shaky.
With the bye weeks here, you may have no choice but to start Hopkins, but there's good news if you're in that position, as the Colts are giving up the seventh-most fantasy points per game to receivers this season.
But if you've got someone else on your roster who has been more consistent and productive through five weeks, start them over Hopkins, who just has too many question marks right now.
Verdict: Sit 'Em
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em Week 6: Tyjae Spears
You might be a bit hyped about Spears this week after he tallied 17 touches (including 15 carries) and a score in Week 4, but context is important. The Titans ran the ball a lot in that game after grabbing a sizeable lead over the lowly Miami Dolphins, and the second-year back still only had 41 scrimmage yards.
Despite the massive uptick in touches, Spears was still out-touched by backfield mate Tony Pollard, 24-17, which shows Pollard is still the lead guy over Spears.
Spears hasn't totaled more than 61 scrimmage yards in a game and has just the one touchdown, and the game script in what figures to be a close contest against Indy won't be favorable to a No. 2 back. Keep Spears on the bench if you can.
