The Seattle Seahawks have been looking to fortify the interior of their offensive line this offseason. Earlier this week, the Seahawks hosted offensive guard Ike Boettger on a visit but they have gone in a different direction for now.
The Seahawks have signed offensive guard Laken Tomlinson to a one-year deal worth up to $4 million. Tomlinson will be primed to compete for a starting job on the interior.
A first-round pick of the Detroit Lions in 2015, Tomlinson spent five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, including making a Pro Bowl in 2021. That led the New York Jets to sign him to a three-year, $40 million contract ahead of the 2022 season. They released him after the 2023 season after a subpar year.
At this price, Tomlinson is a worthwhile gamble as starting guards were going for between $10-20 million per season.
