The class of 2024 has been officially enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, adding another generation to a rich tradition of awesome competitors being immortalized in Canton. Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Dwight Freeney and Julius Peppers were among the all-time greats who earned their place in the Hall this past weekend.
Looking ahead, the Seattle Seahawks will have a couple of their greatest players of all time eligible for the Hall of Fame for the first time next year. Here's the complete list of potential Hall of Famers, per Adam Schefter at ESPN.
- Giants QB Eli Manning
- Ravens LB Terrell Suggs
- Broncos CB Aqib Talib
- Colts K Adam Vinatieri
- Panthers LB Luke Kuechly
- Ravens G Marshal Yanda
- Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch
- Seahawks FS Earl Thomas
Those last two names are both deserving of a bust in Canton, as far as we're concerned. However, neither one of them has a slam dunk case to make it.
Lynch was a five-time Pro Bowler who was a key piece on a Super Bowl winning team. Lynch was immensely popular at his peak and will never pay for a drink in the Pacific Northwest again. However, he only earned first-team All-Pro honors once and was never the best running back in the league at any point in his career.
As for Thomas, his case for Canton is a little bit stronger. He made seven Pro Bowl teams and was named a first-team All-Pro three times. There was also a string of seasons when he was indisputably the best free safety in the game and arguably the most-important piece on the greatest defense in modern NFL history.
We're giving two thumbs up in both cases, but it's up to the voters to decide.
