It sounds like one former member of the San Francisco 49ers is looking for a new opportunity.
Former 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard is currently a free agent and likely is one of the top signal callers available on the open market. Beathard is a six-year National Football League veteran who has been a serviceable backup throughout his career.
He has made 13 starts throughout his career and has appeared in 32 games overall. Beathard spent the first three seasons of his career with San Francisco and spent the last three years backing up Trevor Lawrence with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Now, he's looking for a new home. He reportedly worked out with the New York Giants on Monday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
"The Giants worked out veteran (quarterback) C.J. Beathard," Pelissero said.
While this is the case, it doesn't sound like an opportunity is coming with New York, according to NorthJersey.com's Art Stapleton.
"Don't read too much into this from a QB perspective for Giants," Stapleton said. "Sense I get is that they had a workout with receivers and needed a QB. Beathard was available to throw. Similar to when Jarrett Guarantano worked out for Giants earlier this month."
Beathard is just 30 years old and likely will find an opportunity at some point. It doesn't sound like it will be with the Giants, though.
