There's a lot to be excited about when it comes to the San Francisco 49ers.
San Francisco made it to the Super Bowl last season and is in a great position with the new season kicking off. The 49ers will begin the season on Monday night against the Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets.
It certainly will be an exciting clash, but will star running back Christian McCaffrey be on the field? He has been dealing with an Achilles issue but is "doing great" according to General Manager John Lynch as transcribed by Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper.
"49ers running back Christian McCaffrey spent most of the summer off the field due to a calf injury and he was limited in practice on Thursday, but there doesn’t appear to be any concern about his availability for Monday night," Alper said. "General Manager John Lynch said on KNBR Friday that McCaffrey, who is listed with an Achilles issue in addition to the calf, 'is doing great' and looks like himself when he’s on the practice field. Lynch said that leaves him confident that the running back will be good to go against the Jets.
“Obviously we want to see him progress through the week, but he takes tremendous care of his body. He’ll be out there and ready to roll,” Lynch said.
This all sounds like great news for the 49ers star. McCaffrey unsurprisingly will be a massive part of the 49ers offense this season. While it's good news that he is doing well, this is an injury to monitor moving forward.
