The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered their first defeat of the season to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4, but in the process, quarterback Justin Fields set a franchise record.

Fields had his best showing of the 2024 campaign on Sunday, completing 22-of-34 passes for 312 yards and one touchdown to no picks, while also adding 55 yards on the ground and two more touchdowns. The passing yards were a season-high for Fields, as were the three total touchdowns.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Fields is the first player in Steelers history to break 300 yards through the air and total at least 50 rushing yards and two rushing scores all in a single game.

While the showing was no doubt impressive, Fields' performance wasn't without a major blunder. With the Steelers in field goal range in the third quarter, Fields inexplicably ran backwards to avoid a sack before losing a fumble.

That was obviously very costly, as the Steelers ended up losing by just three points.

Even still, Fields did a great job putting the team on his back after falling behind 17-3 going into the half. The fumble notwithstanding, the Steelers signal-caller played a huge role in the comeback bid.

Now, we turn our attention to Week 5, when the Steelers might have a decision to make under center. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Russell Wilson is expected to be healthy enough to play, and if so, Pittsburgh will have to decide whether or not to stick with Fields or go back to their original starter in Wilson.

Had Fields not rebounded in the second half of Sunday's loss, the decision would have been a lot easier. But Fields no doubt made things more difficult for Mike Tomlin and Co. with his standout showing over the final two quarters.
