The Pittsburgh Steelers threw on the pads for the first time at training camp on Tuesday and the team also saw the return of quarterback Russell Wilson.

Wilson was limited, at best, over the first four practices of training camp after he suffered a calf injury while pushing a sled during the team's conditioning test last week. But he was able to do much more on Tuesday.

The veteran quarterback was on the field for 11-on-11 work but didn't do much, as he handed the ball off twice to his running back. He was also involved in 7-on-7s and went 6-for-6 during the period, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.

He did not participate in the "Seven Shots" portion of practice, though.

“I feel good, getting better every day," Wilson said, according to Chris Adamski of TribLive.com. "It’s just good to be back out here again with the guys, putting the helmet on, really getting the work today.”

Justin Fields saw the first-team reps when Wilson wasn't on the field. According to Pryor, he might have had his best practice of training camp thus far after not missing a single throw in 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 periods.

Pryor adds that Fields "had a couple nice deep throws and designed runs" and "he made routine plays routinely."

It would appear that both quarterbacks had a good day on Tuesday, which is great news for Pittsburgh. The Steelers are expected to return to the practice field on Wednesday for what will be their second padded practice of training camp.
