Will Pittsburgh Steelers be the next team to make a change at quarterback?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a quarterback controversy on their hands two games into the 2024 season, as the team will have to decide whether it will stick with Justin Fields or go to Russell Wilson once he's healthy enough to play.

Knowing that, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes that Fields is the second-most likely quarterback to get benched next after the Carolina Panthers decided to make a change, going from Bryce Young to Andy Dalton.

The only quarterback Knox thinks is more likely to get benched is New York Giants signal-caller, Daniel Jones.

"Fields has managed games well for Pittsburgh, but he's only led one touchdown drive through two games," Knox wrote. "If the Steelers believe that Wilson can provide more of a spark, the nine-time Pro Bowler will regain the starting job."

"Fields' performance in Pittsburgh's home opener this week could play a major factor in the Steelers' quarterback decision moving forward," Knox added. "A bad game in front of the home crowd could make turning to Wilson (if healthy) an easy decision."

If the Steelers go to Wilson once he's healthy, can we really consider Fields being removed a benching? After all, Wilson was named the starter before Week 1.

Whatever the case may be, there is a better chance than not that Wilson will get the ball once he's ready to go. After all, the Steelers have scored just 31 points over two games and have rushed for more yards than they're thrown for.

Granted, not all of the Steelers' offensive struggles are on Fields, as pass protection has been shoddy and penalties have killed drives. But Fields hasn't done enough overall for the Steelers to not give Wilson a look.

Perhaps Fields will have a huge performance in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers to change that, but right now we fully expect Wilson to get the ball when he's cleared to play.
