With just weeks to go before its release on Friday, Aug. 16, EA Sports' Madden NFL 25 has begun releasing its player ratings, with wide receivers and safeties up first — and the game wasn't too kind to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.
According to the Madden NFL 25 website, Pickens gets an overall rating of 83, tied for 33rd at the position. Now, that's not a terrible rating, but when you consider who is rated higher, it doesn't look so good.
Some of the players ahead of Pickens include the Jacksonville Jaguars' Gabe Davis, the Denver Broncos' Courtland Sutton, the Baltimore Ravens' Zay Flowers, and the New York Jets' Mike Williams.
What do all four of those players have in common? Pickens has outproduced them all over his first two seasons in the NFL.
The other notable Steelers player to get their rating was safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who fared much better as compared to other safeties around the NFL. Fitzpatrick notched a 93 overall mark, the third-highest in the game at his position.
Pickens is coming off a career-best campaign in which he tallied 1,140 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Making his season more impressive was the fact that Pittsburgh had a mess under center.
Pickens is primed for an even better season in 2024, as the Steelers figure to have a better situation under center with either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, and the Georgia product is far and away the team's No. 1 option in the passing game.
