The Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys were set to kick off their Sunday night contest from Acrisure Stadium at 8:20 p.m. ET, but the game has been delayed due to bad weather.
As kickoff was approaching, heavy rain, thunder and lightning moved into the area, as was expected. As a result, the league made a decision to delay the start time in the interest of the safety of players and fans in attendance.
"We are currently in a weather delay until further notice," a statement from Acrisure Stadium read. "Fans in the stadium can remain in the seating bowl. We will provide further updates when available."
Steelers vs. Cowboys updated start time
Per the NBC broadcast, the league is hoping to get the Steelers and Cowboys back on the field at 9:25 p.m. ET, with the aim of starting the game around 9:45 p.m. ET.
Until then, the players for both teams are hanging out in their respective locker rooms in full pads, trying to stay loose before kickoff. The 20 minutes in between the two teams taking the field and kickoff will allow players to warm back up.
The Steelers enter this game off a loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4. Despite the loss, Pittsburgh remains in first place in the AFC North, but the Baltimore Ravens are breathing down their neck at 3-2 after a win on Sunday afternoon.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, are looking up at the Washington Commanders, who are in first place with a 4-1 record. Dallas will hold onto second place if it can improve to 3-2 with a win on Sunday night.
