The Steelers were thought to be seeking another wide receiver to help bolster a unit that saw Diontae Johnson traded away and Allen Robinson released. They signed Van Jefferson, and, per multiple outlets, are set to sign former Eagles WR Quez Watkins.
Watkins has good long speed, and has been utilized in a deeper-route role at times in his career. Injuries have dogged his progression, and, unfortunately, is probably best known at this point in his career for a dropped pass in a Super Bowl loss vs. the Chiefs.
But considering the lack of depth the Steelers wide receiver unit has, and his availability (and presumed low price tag), it's a sensible, if not spectacular signing.
