Justin Fields got his first true experience with the Pittsburgh Steelers at minicamp, and so far, the former Chicago Bears quarterback is liking what he is seeing.
Fields, who played for three seasons in Chicago before the Bears decided to move on to USC’s Caleb Williams with this year’s first overall pick, said things felt different in the established culture of the Steelers locker room.
“Me being in two different places now, I realize that you don’t get this culture everywhere,” Fields said last week. “I think Chicago, I think they are kind of changing the narrative now, but this has been the culture here for so many years. You can see it. The way that we attack each and every day. Coach T, he stays honest about it.”
While the comment could be seen as a slight towards his former team, it mostly speaks to the consistency that the Steelers have had throughout their organization over the years.
Mike Tomlin is the longest-tenured active head coach in the NFL, and was just extended to keep him in Pittsburgh through the 2027 season.
Given that the Bears have burned through five head coaches in the time that Tomlin has been leading the Steelers, it’s no surprise that Fields might find things a bit more stable in Pittsburgh.
