The Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten themselves off to a 2-0 start to the 2024 season but that has largely been a result of the defense and special teams, which isn't good news for running back Najee Harris or wide receiver George Pickens.
Pickens had a decent outing in Week 1, but his second game of the season was not good. He was targeted just four times and reeled in two receptions for 29 scoreless yards.
At running back, Harris saw a hefty workload once again with 18 touches, but he had just one catch and 74 scrimmage yards in total and failed to find the end zone.
With what we've seen from Harris and Pickens thus far, should either one be in your lineup when the Steelers meet the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3? Let's discuss.
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: George Pickens
There are multiple reasons to be concerned about Pickens this week aside from the numbers he's put up over two games.
The Steelers are expected to start quarterback Justin Fields once again with Russell Wilson still working his way back, and Fields hasn't done much through the air over two games with just 267 passing yards, which greatly limits Pickens' production potential.
Adding to that, the Chargers have a lethal pass-rush with Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack on the edge, and that duo could make moving the ball through the air even more difficult than it has been for Pittsburgh already.
The Chargers are also tied for the second-fewest fantasy points per game given up to wide receivers. Pickens is best left on the bench yet again in Week 3, and it may not be safe to deploy him until Wilson, who is a better passer than Fields, gets the ball.
Verdict: Sit 'Em
Fantasy Football Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Najee Harris
Fellow running back Jaylen Warren hasn't proven to be much of a threat to Harris' workload over the first two games, with the former first-round pick tallying 19.5 touches per game over his first two.
Unfortunately, the big workload hasn't proven fruitful for Harris, who has just 153 scrimmage yards, two catches and zero touchdowns over his first two games. In addition, Los Angeles is tied for the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game surrendered to running backs.
Until the Steelers show defenses have to respect their passing game, teams are going to stack the box against Harris regularly. It's tough to trust him in lineups this week.
Verdict: Sit 'Em
