Darius Slay was protecting his X account on Sunday night as he deleted a tweet touting his career after his Philadelphia Eagles lost 33-16 Sunday at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Slay could also be seen on Sunday waving an “incomplete” sign after an end zone drop by Kameron Johnson during a goal-line stand in the first half. Tampa Bay settled for a field goal. Problem was, that made the score 24-0 Bucs.

Coach Nick Sirianni took heat for the nature of the loss heading into the bye, saying “it starts with me,” but Slay did himself no favors either. It’s a given that players can criticize the other team, their own team, the officials, the NFL, and of course the media. But they can’t criticize the fans, and that goes double in a sports-mad city like Philadelphia.
Needless to say, this wasn’t going over well with the fans.
darius slay is 33 in his 11th nfl season and is tweeting his owns career stats an hour after his team lost

Making three straight Pro Bowls didn’t seem like a defense to some.
Darius Slay tweets out a bunch of arrogant self-propaganda after a loss AND THEN MAKES HIS ACCOUNT PRIVATE when people get mad
