On the heels of a swarming defense that closed the game out late, the Philadelphia Eagles rallied late for a 15-12 win over the New Orleans Saints Sunday at the Caesars Superdome.

Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter, whose play has been criticized early this season, was just a little bit fired up after this one.

As the final seconds ticked away, Carter, who according to Greg Olsen on the FOX broadcast had been jawing with Saints defenders Tyrann Mathieu and Marshon Lattimore, went bonkers while celebrating the win on the sideline.

Watch as coaches — including head coach Nick Sirianni — get in the face of the big fella to try and deescalate the situation:

Carter earned himself that moment. He rose up as part of a dominant performance overall by the Eagles defense, propping up an offensive unit that produced zero points in the first half. Carter racked up three solo tackles, including two for a loss. He also batted down a pair of passes and registered a QB hit as Philly shut down the hottest offense in the NFL entering Week 3.

Folks can get on Carter for plenty of his off-field stuff, including getting benched for the Eagles first defensive series last week for showing up late to a team meeting. But you have to love seeing this kind of emotion from one of the Eagles’ most important defensive players.

This Eagles defense was downright ugly in the first two games. Carter and the boys should be feeling themselves after this one.
