The Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints will both be missing a key starter for Sunday’s Week 3 clash at The Caesars Superdome.
Eight total players were listed on the initial injury report for the game, with six of those players belonging to the Saints (2-0).
Here’s the full breakdown off of Friday’s practice reports.
Eagles vs. Saints Week 3: Full injury designations
Philadelphia Eagles
Out
- WR A.J. Brown (hamstring)
This is tough news, especially considering head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters Friday that the team planned to give Brown as much time as they could leading up to Sunday’s game before making a decision. It appears the reported “hamstring tightness” Brown experienced in practice last week was worse than the team has let on. He’ll miss his second consecutive game, meaning the passing attack will once again have to run through DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley and Britain Covey.
Questionable
- S C.J. Gardner-Johnson (foot)
CJGJ has been dealing with a foot issue in practice, missing his second consecutive session on Friday. The foot is reportedly still attached, which means the Eagles starting safety should be able to suit up against the team that drafted him in 2019. There’s no love lost between Gardner-Johnson and the Saints for how his tenure ended there. This foot injury is reportedly not considered to be serious.
New Orleans Saints
Out
- DT Khalen Saunders (calf)
Saunders was on the practice field for the first time since training camp this week, but he left practice quickly and was listed as a non-participant on the Saints' injury report. The starting defensive lineman will miss his third consecutive game to open the season. Second-year pro Bryan Bresee, a late first-round pick in 2023, has filled in for Saunders with mixed results through the first two weeks.
Doubtful
- TE Taysom Hill (chest)
Hill has been downgraded from questionable, putting him on track to be inactive. It would be a significant loss for the Saints. Hill has been a key weapon for new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, lining up in five different offensive positions already this season, per PFF.
Questionable
- LB D'Marco Jackson (calf)
The Saints’ backup middle linebacker appears to be nearing a return. He practiced for the first time since Aug. 22 on Thursday, and was able to log back-to-back sessions to close the week.
- OT Landon Young (foot)
The fourth-year pro provides value as a reserve left-side offensive lineman, logging snaps at both guard and tackle through the first two games. He was unable to practice this week, leaving his status for Sunday in doubt.
- S Will Harris (shin)
The Saints’ starting safety opposite Tyrann Mathieu, Harris is off to a strong start this season with an interception, two pass breakups and three solo tackles through two weeks. Harris was able to suit up in a limited capacity on Friday, putting him on track to play.
- WR A.T. Perry (illness)
Perry was a healthy scratch for Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. He practiced in full on Friday, indicating he’s feeling better and should be available in a reserve capacity.
