Seven weeks ago, the XFL made its return to television screens and football fields across the country. Now as the league gears up for the stretch run, the playoff picture is taking shape.
This season, so far, has had a little bit of everything for fans. There is a dominant team in the nation's capital, multiple teams in the basement and the remaining are competitive -- talk about balance.
A few playoff spots can be clinched in Week 7, with four of the league's eight teams ultimately qualifying for the postseason.

Sea Dragons vs. Renegades
The Sea Dragons got off to a tough start, losing their first two games. Since that time, they are winners of four in a row and in prime position to steal a spot in the playoffs. Seattle won't have a divisional matchup this week to help in the standings, but it will get a chance to battle against the league's worst offense, the Arlington Renegades.
Ben DiNucci leads his top-ranked Seattle passing attack into Arlington for showdown under the Friday night lights. With the Battlehawks facing a tough matchup against the XFL South-leading Roughnecks, the Sea Dragons could hold the inside track to clinching a playoff spot by week's end.
Brahmas vs. Vipers
The XFL's worst offense might reside in Arlington with the Renegades, but you don't have to go far to find the second-worst scoring team in the league. In fact, it's only about a three-hour drive away. The San Antonio Brahmas will look to keep their playoff hopes alive and draw a favorable matchup against the team in the XFL North division basement -- the Vegas Vipers.
Vegas comes in at 1-5 with almost all hope now officially lost for their postseason dreams, but with the Brahmas at 2-4, neither team truly jumps off the screen.
Defenders vs. Guardians
Saturday night's action will most likely deliver a classic beatdown in Orlando. It's a matchup of worst versus first, the defeated versus the undefeated. The Defenders have been a machine, holding a perfect 6-0 record prior to this contest, while the Guardians have been unable to get into the win column, at 0-6.
D.C. has a golden opportunity to clinch a playoff spot with a win and unless ESPN's broadcast turns into a Disney movie, the Defenders almost certainly will.
Battlehawks vs. Roughnecks
Week 7's action concludes with a Sunday afternoon game in Houston. Wade Phillips' Roughnecks have held steady at the top of the XFL South all season long, but will face a tough game against Anthony Becht's Battlehawks.
The top two scoring offenses will be on display in what should be the best matchup of the slate.
