Will Beatty won't be protecting Eli Manning's blind side this season — and perhaps beyond.
The Giants left tackle suffered a torn pectoral muscle in May that landed him on the physically unable to perform list to start the season, and coach Tom Coughlin said Thursday that Beatty had suffered an unrelated rotator-cuff injury that also will require surgery.

Thursday was the last day of a 21-day window the team had to take Beatty off the PUP list.
Since becoming the Giants' starting left tackle in 2011, Beatty had missed only five games through 2011 to 2014.
With Beatty sidelined, rookie Erick Flowers has started at left tackle and his performance there could have the Giants rethinking Beatty's future, in light of the season-ending injuries.
He signed a five-year, $37.5 million extension in 2013, and, according to NJ Advance Media, the Giants could save $4.175 million against the salary cap if Beatty is released this offseason.
