Answer by Genwei Zagorac:

There are quite a few options. Some make more sense than others.

  • The first option is Sam Bradford. He is a free agent in the upcoming period. The Eagles (and probably Doug Pederson specifically) need to decide if Sam is the guy they want going forward. Apparently, he is asking for $20+ million per year, which would make him one of the most highly paid quarterbacks in the league—even though his performance hasn't constituted such pay. I think Sam could be the QB of the future in Pederson's offense, but he isn't worth that much money. If he doesn't budge, expect a new guy under center next year. And thank God we will finally have the QB under center (referencing Chip Kelly's shotgun/pistol offense).
  • A recent rumor is that the Eagles will try to bring back Nick Foles, either through signing or via a trade. This seems like a poor idea to me. He was traded and showed that he was more a product of Chip Kelly's system. I don't believe he would strive under Pederson's new offense, which I'm guessing will be similar to Andy Reid's offense, which Foles briefly played in during his rookie year. He was awful. Last season didn't instill in me a lot of faith that he could run a pro-style offense effectively for an entire season.
  • The third option is to draft a QB and either play him immediately or sign/trade for a veteran QB to start until the rookie is ready. There aren't any standout QBs in this draft yet, but drafting someone and getting a Josh McCown or a Charlie Whitehurst might not be the worst of ideas. You know the team isn't going to the playoffs regardless, so they might as well not spoil a new QB by throwing him into the fire.
  • They could sign Robert Griffin III. If Chip were still coaching, this would be the best option. But he isn't. So I don't think the Eagles should try to land former Rookie of the Year RGIII. He still has some play left in the tank—possibly a lot left—but his style is a shotgun offense, and we have seen that DeMarco Murray can't succeed in that style.
  • They could sign Johnny "Football" Manziel. I only throw this out there because it's a small possibility. I don't actually want to see it happen. It's a similar situation to RGIII. If Chip were here, Manziel would likely come to play for him. But Pederson doesn't want Manziel, because Johnny could potentially derail Pederson's career the way he did Pettine's.

I believe those are the top 5 most likely options, unless I'm missing something. In all honesty, they are probably listed in order of how likely they are to happen.
