When the Washington Commanders drafted cornerback Emmanuel Forbes in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, it was clear he needed to gain some weight to help him better acclimate to the NFL.
Forbes was listed at 166 pounds at last year's combine, and he's now listed at 180 pounds on the Commanders' official website. However, a recent photo of him suggests he might be thinner than that.
The photo of Forbes comes from his youth football camp, and he may very well be skinnier than he was last year. At the very least, it looks like Forbes hasn't gained an ounce during the offseason. Just in case it wasn't clear, Forbes is on the left in the photo below, not the right.
Had a great time at your camp today @emmanuelforbes7 thanks for the signed jersey!!! pic.twitter.com/ysVeL2kkz7

The youngster next to him is Zayion Cotton, a wide receiver who plays high school ball at Grenada High School in Mississippi, the same school Forbes attended. If we didn't know any better, we'd think Forbes was the high school kid.
Forbes appeared in 14 games (six starts) for Washington in 2023 and surrendered a completion rate of 60.7% and a passer rating of 103.0 in coverage in what was a rocky rookie campaign for him.
After seeing significant snaps over his first five games, Forbes was benched or played very little snaps on a handful of occasions. However, in his final three games, Forbes was much more involved, seeing 29, 69 and 71 snaps in those contests, respectively.
Entering his second season, Forbes needs to show out if he wants to earn a role under the new coaching staff. His lack of size won't help, though.
