He's alert at a local hospital with movement in his extremities, according to the team.
Chargers running back Melvin Gordon ran into Phillips along the sideline after Philip Rivers threw an intercepttion; Phillips seemed to hit his head on the turf.
Cameras captured Phillips raising his index finger while the cart carried him off.

The 69-year-old Phillips is the architect of the Broncos' dominant defense and a very nice man. Hopefully, updates on his condition continue to be positive.
