Von Miller not getting 'emotionally attached' to Aaron Rodgers-Broncos rumors: 'We have Drew Lock' image

Who needs Aaron Rodgers when you have Drew Lock?

The Broncos were one of three reported teams in on Aaron Rodgers' services, but there's been no movement on the Rodgers front for some time now. Broncos veteran Von Miller, though, isn't holding his breath.

Speaking at his recent annual pass rush summit, Miller says he opts to operate in reality over engaging with rumors surrounding who the Broncos starting quarterback might be entering the 2021 season (via the Las Vegas Journal-Review):

"It's crazy to think about, you know, getting an Aaron Rodgers," Miller said on Saturday. "You put him on any team in the league and he changes that team. …

"You start thinking, 'Oh, we're going to get Aaron Rodgers or Deshaun Watson. But hold on, wait a minute, we've got Drew Lock. That's who we're running with. That’s who we’re going into the season with until anything changes."

The Broncos organizational churn at quarterback has been perpetual since the retirement of Peyton Manning in 2016. Denver drafted Lock in 2019, and he's had two up-and-down seasons with a very talented offensive unit.

Lock, though, did finish the last four games of the 2020 season on a heater, throwing seven touchdowns to two interceptions over the stretch. The Broncos brought in Teddy Bridgewater to presumably compete with Lock in training camp.

Rodgers and the Packers seem headed for a divorce, either this offseason or next. Rodgers hasn't reported to OTAs or the team's mandatory minicamp earlier in June amidst his feud with the team, with little evidence to when, if ever, he'll return.

Until rumor comes to reality, though, Miller simply ain't buying it.
