Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith has always been a unique individual. He was still driving his 2002 Chevy Tahoe from college after signing his massive five-year extension and has been a no-nonsense player throughout his career.
The last few seasons have had Smith considering life after football. There have been numerous rumors about Smith potentially retiring and the last two offseasons have seen Smith restructure his contract to return for another season.
During the offseason, Smith didn't really think about football. Instead, he was working for his brother doing welding and carpentry.
Harrison Smith said he hadn’t really thought much about football, then saw on ESPN that free agency was soon. Thought, oh, I should probably talk to my agent about playing. Had been working as a carpenter/welder for his brother. Naturally.

This is both incredible and not surprising one bit coming from Smith. Whenever he decides to hang up the cleats, the Vikings will be losing one of the best personalities in the league.
