Vikings troll Eagles LB Zach Brown, who called Kirk Cousins the 'weakest' part of Minnesota offense image

After their 38-20 win Sunday, the Vikings evidently could not wait to reference the Kirk Cousins criticism Eagles linebacker Zach Brown had dealt a couple days prior.

Brown, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with Cousins chatter after his team's loss and his own trash-talking fail.

Cousins torched Philadelphia on Sunday to the tune of 22-of-29 passing, 333 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception and a rating of 138.4, one of the best games the quarterback has played in Minnesota. The 31-year-old passer has been criticized at various points throughout his career, so Brown's condemnation of Cousins, though unnecessarily pointed, was not out of the blue.

"Cousins, I think every defense is going to want that guy to throw the ball," Brown said Friday, via ESPN. "For me, that's probably the weakest part of their offense is him. Everything else is good. They've got a good running game, probably one of the best in the league. They have real good receivers.

"You just want them to pass the ball. You want Kirk Cousins to get it in his hands."

Whoops.

The Vikings didn't let Brown forget his words, tweeting a graphic after the game of Cousins' stat line and the words, "The weakest link."

Reporters didn't let Brown forget his words, either.

"I'm here to talk about the game, and not about that," Brown responded when asked after the game whether he regrets what he said about Cousins. As another reporter pressed on the Cousins topic, Brown piped up: "Any other questions, besides about Kirk Cousins?"

Cousins and Brown played together when both were with the Redskins in 2017, which, Brown said Friday, is why he was qualified to criticize the QB: "I realized when I was in Washington, he was kind of careless with the ball. But at the same time, hey, you make the bed you sleep in. I was at the Redskins with him so I know about him. That's my viewpoint on him."

Cousins' history aside, this is a good lesson for Brown: Don't talk trash about your opponent's QB when your own secondary is struggling.
