Minnesota Vikings cornerback Cameron Dantzler was carted off Sunday after an apparent neck injury suffered while trying to make a tackle.

Dantzler, the starting defensive back, was trying to bring down Packers back AJ Dillon during the first quarter; while wrapping up with Dillon's lower half, Minnesota's Anthony Harris ran in to assist with the tackle. Harris' thigh inadvertently collided with Dantzler's head, causing Dantzler's neck to snap backward.

Dantzler remained on the ground at Lambeau Field as medical staff attended to him before a backboard was brought out to lift Dantzler onto the medical cart. After nearly 10 minutes, the medical staff transported Dantzler off the field after his Vikings teammates came off the sideline to surround him.

The Vikings announced shortly after Dantzler went to the locker room that he has a neck injury and is also being evaluated for a concussion. About an hour later, the Vikings released a further update: "Dantzler has full movement of his body and underwent an x-ray at Lambeau Field. Out of caution, he has been transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation."

Postgame, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters that Dantzler would be flying home with the Vikings. Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins added, "I'm relieved to hear that Cam Dantzler is doing OK.''

On Saturday, Dantzler had been activated off the COVID-19/reserve list to make his return following Minnesota's Week 7 bye week. Dantzler is a rookie out of Mississippi State after being selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Dantzler had played 100 percent of Vikings defensive snaps in both Weeks 5 and 6, including tallying 11 total tackles and two tackles for loss in Week 6.
