USFL schedule Week 5: What football games are on today? TV channels, times, scores image

This weekend brings a spring football extravaganza.

The USFL will be sharing air with the XFL of Saturday, as the rival league's championship between the Renegades and Defenders will be on. But on Sunday, the USFL will be the only football league live as it rounds at Week 5.

The schedule is going to feature a lot of afternoon football, with games beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Then, both days feature a matinee matchup at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

There's been a ton of parity around the league this year, so keep an eye on that moving forward with games played in Detroit and Birmingham on both days.

Saturday, May 13

Maulers (1-3) vs. Panthers (2-2)

  • Kickoff: 12:30 p.m. ET
  • TV Channel: USA
  • Live stream: Fubo

After starting the season 2-0, the Panthers have begun to scuffle a bit. This week marks their third straight at Ford Field, but they're looking for their first win there of the season. The Maulers are 1-3, but they're competitive -- certainly more than last year. They'll look to build some momentum with QB Troy Williams under center.

Gamblers (2-2) vs. Stallions (3-1)

  • Kickoff: 4 p.m. ET
  • TV Channel: Fox
  • Live stream: FoxSports.com, Fubo

If it's necessary to pick a team to beat this early in the season, the Stallions have to make the shortlist. The defending champions are off to a strong start, and that's in spite of a lot of injuries hindering the team. They're hitting a Gamblers team that is catching some fire, having started 0-2 and clawing their way back to .500. Alex McGough and Kenji Bahar are two of the top QBs in the league, so this could be a high-powered shootout.

Sunday, May 14

Generals (2-2) vs. Stars (1-3)

  • Kickoff: Noon ET
  • TV Channel: NBC
  • Live stream: Peacock, Fubo

Sunday will begin with an early kickoff between some East Coast squads, the Generals and the Stars. All is not well in Philadelphia, last year's USFL runner-up, as they're now 1-3. They'll take on the 2-2 Generals, who are very likely better than their record indicates, but offensive issues continue to hinder them. At this point in the season, this is an important game for both teams.

Showboats (1-3) vs. Breakers (4-0)

  • Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. ET
  • TV Channel: Fox
  • Live stream: FoxSports.com, Fubo

The Showboats and the Breakers have the final game of Week 5. New Orleans is the final undefeated team in USFL action, whereas the Showboats tallied their first win of the season last week. McLeod Bethel-Thompson and Wes Hill have been an outstanding 1-2 punch for New Orleans, and it falls on Memphis to slow down the potent offensive combination. Perhaps they can take their momentum from last week and translate it into a winning streak.
