Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill might still be riding the high of his incredible game Sunday against the Buccaneers.

The speedster turned in a historic performance, catching 12 passes from Patrick Mahomes for 261 receiving yards and three touchdowns of 75, 44 and 20 yards, respectively. Moreover, he had 203 receiving yards in the first quarter, accounting for 83 percent of Mahomes' passing totals in the period.

It's a partnership that continues to be one of the most productive in the NFL: In the last three seasons, the two have combined for 213 connections for 3,360 yards and 32 touchdowns. Such an incredible duo had to have had an equally incredible beginning, right?

Not quite.

Hill on Tuesday revealed his first impression of Mahomes when he saw the rookie at Chiefs training camp in 2017. Hill, then a second-year receiver with the Chiefs, didn't have a high estimation of the gunslinger from Texas Tech.

"I thought he was trash," Hill said of Hill (via InsideTheNFL). "I ain't gonna cap. When he first got there, I was like, 'This is who y'all drafted, right here?'"

As he would later find out, Mahomes proved him wrong. But, to Hill's credit, he actually backed up his answer:

"It's just that second year, like his quarterback mechanics were different," Hill said. "It was like he was spending more time with his quarterback coach, spending more time with Coach (Andy) Reid, like learning the offense. Dude was like, different."

Hill's story also led to a humorous interaction between the two on Twitter:

Hey, better to have a long-lasting relationship than a honeymoon phase, right?
