Jets coach Todd Bowles was in stable condition at a hospital Friday with an undisclosed ailment, the team announced.
Bowles did not travel with the team to New England ahead of Saturday's game against the Patriots. The Jets said it was "unclear" whether Bowles would be able to coach in the 1 p.m. ET game, and assistant head coach Mike Caldwell would step in if necessary.

Bowles, 53, has had a tough second season in New York. With a 4-10 record, there has been speculation that his job is in jeopardy despite being just a year removed from a 10-6 showing in his first season as an NFL head coach.
The New Jersey native was an NFL assistant for 15 years before getting his head coaching shot with the Jets in 2015.
