If it was up to him, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins would stay with the Tennessee Titans beyond the 2024 campaign, as he has clearly fallen in love with the state and franchise after his first season in Nashville.
But his future remains murky, as Hopkins is in the final year of his two-year contract, which has naturally led to questions about whether or not the Titans will extend him before he hits free agency in 2025.
When asked about his contract situation on Thursday, Hopkins said he's taking it day-by-day but noted that he's never been happier with any team he's been with.
“I take it day by day," Hopkins said, according to AtoZ Sports Nashville. "I love Tennessee. I love what Miss Amy’s doing. This is the happiest I’ve been with any organization. I’ll let that speak for itself.”
Hopkins' first season in the two-tone blue was no doubt a success, as the veteran wide receiver was the team's No. 1 option and played a huge role in Will Levis' development, en route to a 1,000-yard season.
Normally, such a performance would make the Titans' decision easy, but Hopkins is also 32 years old and is in the danger zone for decline. But, to be fair, he showed no signs of slowing down in 2023.
Because of his age, it's very conceivable that the Titans will let this season play out to see how Hopkins does. But if all goes well, we should see Hopkins back in Tennessee in 2025.
