Is there a Thursday night football game tonight? XFL schedule, TV channels for Week 3 image

The XFL season is in full swing, with two weeks down and contenders beginning to separate themselves. The Roughnecks, Defenders, and Battlehawks are all still undefeated at 2-0, while the Sea Dragons, Vipers, and Guardians are still searching for their first win at 0-2.

It's already going to be difficult for the three winless teams to climb out of such a hole, but the first two weeks of games have proven it's tough to count anyone out.

As the XFL finds its footing, it's experimenting with some different scheduling formats. That includes occasional Thursday night games, putting football back on weeknights with the NFL season over.

Here's what you need to know about the XFL's Week 3 schedule.

Is there a Thursday night football game tonight?

The XFL's Week 3 schedule does not include a Thursday night game. In fact, there is only one game before Sunday, when the league will host a tripleheader.

The XFL does have two Thursday night games on the schedule this season, including the one from Week 2. The Battlehawks and Sea Dragons faced off in prime-time last week, a game won by St. Louis after another comeback.

The next Thursday night XFL game will come in Week 5, when the Sea Dragons host the Roughnecks.

XFL schedule Week 3

The XFL's schedule sees a bit of a shakeup compared to the first two weeks, as there will be three games on one day for the first time this season. That means the Vipers and Sea Dragons have a standalone prime-time game to open Week 3 action on Saturday.

Sunday's tripleheader includes a matchup of undefeated teams in Washington D.C. and a third consecutive home game for the unbeaten Roughnecks against an in-state rival.

The XFL currently has just one more Thursday night game on its schedule, with the Sea Dragons set to host the Roughnecks in Week 5. The league also has a Monday night game scheduled for Week 6 as it experiments with different timeslots.

The Sea Dragons have occasional scheduling conflicts with the MLS' Sounders at Lumen Field, so their two Thursday night games are partially out of necessity.
