Stacking the quarterbacks in the NFL draft is a difficult proposition. There seems to be no consensus among the top four and the top four isn't even a true consensus. Even in some buildings, you'll have coaches and scouts differ on players.

Speaking of consensus, this quarterback class especially doesn't have consensus. Coaches and scouts often have a different opinion on players and this quarterback class is no different. The big difference in this NFL draft class is Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. Coaches are seemingly higher on Penix than scouts and some have them higher than the likes of J.J. McCarthy, Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

Now, this shouldn't be too much of a surprise. Penix is a fantastic thrower of the football and can attack every level of the field from the confines of the pocket. That is what coaches want at the end of the day.

Is there anything we can make of this? It's normal that teams will have rankings that don't align with consensus. However, it seems evident that Penix will go higher than initially expected. That means he could go in the middle of the first round.

Is that a guarantee? Absolutely not. However, that's the direction things are trending.
