The Texans made a monster trade less than a month before the NFL draft.

Houston traded for Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs, according to multiple reports. Houston sent Buffalo a 2025 second-round pick (with the team acquired from the Vikings), per The Athletic's Diana Russini, and also got back a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2025 sixth-round pick.

Diggs, 30, is coming off his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard season and fourth with at least 100 receptions. He has nearly 10,000 receiving yards with 67 total receiving touchdowns in his career. Diggs has also made four consecutive Pro Bowls. His receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns rank in the top-20 among all wide receivers since 2018.

The Texans will take on around $19 million in cash for Diggs in 2024, per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

Texans add more offensive firepower

This is the second major offensive trade Houston made this offseason. The Texans acquired former Bengals running back Joe Mixon in March after Cincinnati planned to release him to give the team a clear-cut starting running back.

There were rumors the Texans were interested in adding another wide receiver after Bears wideout Keenan Allen said he was almost traded to Houston, but nothing materialized. Now, quarterback C.J. Stroud will have three tremendous offensive pass-catchers in Diggs, Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

Stroud is the biggest beneficiary of this move for obvious reasons. He already proved as a rookie he can perform at a high level with two young receivers in Collins and Dell and now gets one of the best veteran pass-catchers at his disposal. Diggs is a sure-handed receiver who can take the top off of defenses and wrack up catches in the middle of the field.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans said the team was looking for a "separator" at the wide receiver position, and they certainly got one in Diggs.
