The Tennessee Titans started their 2024 preseason with a win on Saturday night, with the Titans notching a 17-13 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
The Titans' first-team offense started things off on the right foot, with the unit scoring on both of its drives, one of which was aided by a big kickoff return from wide receiver Kearis Jackson.
On defense, Tennessee got off to a sluggish start, with the 49ers marching right down the field on the opening drive en route to a touchdown. However, the unit got better as the game progressed and finished strong.
After the game, head coach Brian Callahan gave his assessment of how things went in preseason Week 1.
"I thought our ones went out and played pretty good offensively, scoring on our two possessions, which was jumpstarted by our return game," Callahan said, according to Jim Wyatt. "Defensively we had a slow start on the first drive, but we bounced back and dug in a little bit after that.
"I thought for the most part we played clean, and I thought we played an efficient brand of football offensively. So that was a good start for us."
One of the biggest bright spots of the evening was the performance of the starting offensive line, which did a good job in pass protection and in the run game.
The Titans will look to build on their solid preseason debut when they take the field next week against the Seattle Seahawks in Nashville.
