Taylor Swift was named Time magazine's Person of the Year in 2023. Her selection should surprise no one considering how omnipresent she has been because of her worldwide "Eras Tour."
However, what was a surprise was her willingness to dish out some new information about her relationship with Travis Kelce during her interview with the magazine.
Most notably, Swift detailed the start of her relationship with the Chiefs tight end. It came shortly after Kelce expressed an interest in meeting her on his "New Heights" podcast with his brother, Jason.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift told Time. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other."

Swift also explained that while their first very public-facing appearance together came at the Chiefs-Bears game in Week 3, that certainly wasn't the couple's first date.
"By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple," she explained. "I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."
Still, that game was a good test for whether Kelce and Swift would be able to handle the sheer volume of attention paid to them. They passed it, and that's part of the reason that the two haven't been afraid to attend one another's events throughout their relationship.
And their desire to show up for one another is part of what ultimately fueled their decision to take the relationship public.
"When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care," Swift explained. "The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other."

Of course, that doesn't mean that their arrangement is without obstacles. Swift detailed that she knows her appearances at Kelce's games have been well-documented but she has trouble knowing exactly how much screen time she is getting.
"I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in," she said. "There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when [the] camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once."
But while Swift knows about the camera, she tries not to think about it much. That boils down to one simple reason.
"I’m just there to support Travis," she said. "I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads."
Swift has attended five of Kelce's games thus far through 13 weeks of the season. It certainly sounds like she will be at some in the future as well as the connection between the pop star and All-Pro tight end continues to blossom.
