In addition to betting on the national anthem, the halftime show, and all the Super Bowl commercials, you can also bet on certain things being mentioned or shown in the Super Bowl broadcast aside from the action on the field.
As with all other Super Bowl betting genres, there are dozens of betting options available for what we will see and hear during the broadcast.
Let’s look at some of those prop bets below.

Super Bowl prop bets 2020: Broadcast
Will the broadcast show a picture or clip of Joe Montana playing for the Chiefs?
- Yes +150
- No -200
There is an interesting history between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers when it comes to quarterbacks. Five signal callers (Steve DeBerg, Steve Bono, Elvis Grbac, Alex Smith, and Joe Montana) have played for both franchises over the past three decades, and Montana is the most famous signal caller of the bunch. Montana won four Super Bowls with the 49ers and led Kansas City to the AFC championship game in 1993, so it seems likely that this will be mentioned during the broadcast.
However, a mere mention isn’t enough. To win the bet, there needs to be footage of Montana in a Chiefs uniform during the broadcast. There’s probably a 50/50 chance of that happening, so the ‘Yes’ is worth a play here. At some point there is likely to be some dead time in the broadcast, and this is likely one of the top packaged pieces waiting to air.

Will a John 3:16 banner or sign be shown?
- Yes +300
- No -500
In the 1990s, it wasn’t uncommon to see John 3:16 signs at sporting events. However, that slogan has fallen out of favor in recent years, making it improbable that we see it on the Super Bowl LIV broadcast. Something important to keep in mind with this prop is the wording. Wording is key in Super Bowl prop bets, and this prop specifically mentions a banner or sign. The ‘Yes’ doesn’t count if someone is wearing a shirt or a hat with the slogan, and that will keep you from getting backdoored if an attendee gets cheeky.

Will the broadcast mention Steve Bono?
- Yes +550
- No -1000
Will the broadcast mention Alex Smith?
- Yes +300
- No -500
The ‘Yes’ on this bet and the one before it are both great value at this price. Given how many quarterbacks have played for both the Chiefs and the 49ers in recent years, it seems likely that some of those players will be mentioned in passing. It wouldn’t take long for Joe Buck or Troy Aikman to list all five quarterbacks that have started on both teams, and the juicy odds on this prop make this worth a $10 or $20 play.
Will Darrelle Revis tweet about Richard Sherman during the game?
- Yes +200
- No -300
Will Kiara Mia tweet about Jimmy G during the game?
- Yes +200
- No -300
Adult entertainer Kiara Mia has not shied away from talking about her date with Jimmy Garoppolo in the summer of 2018. She has gushed about how Garoppolo was a gentleman during their excursion, and Mia continues to be effusive in her praise of Jimmy G when she is asked about San Francisco’s quarterback. Mia usually only uses her Twitter for self-promotion, but she might want to give Garoppolo a special shoutout during Super Bowl Sunday. A somewhat salacious tweet would likely go viral, and she might not be able to resist the opportunity.

Who will the Super Bowl MVP thank first after winning the award?
- Teammates +125
- God/religion +250
- Coach or coaches +500
- Winning city +500
- Family +700
- Owner +1400
At these odds, betting on the Super Bowl MVP to thank their family first makes a lot of sense. Family encompasses a spouse, kids, siblings, and parents, and there is more than a 7-1 chance that the Super Bowl MVP goes this route in their speech. Patrick Mahomes is currently the odds-on favorite to be named Super Bowl MVP, and while he doesn’t have children or a spouse, he does have parents that he talks about often, so we can see him mentioning his mother or father first if he were to be named MVP.
