Who plays on 'Sunday Night Football' tonight? Time, TV channel, schedule for Week 10 image

The result of tonight's "Sunday Night Football" game might matter more by the time the end of the season when the NFL playoff picture becomes official. Both the Cowboys and the Vikings are fighting for postseason positioning, and if neither wins its division, both will be in play for an NFC wild card.

Playoff picture aside, Cowboys vs. Vikings in a prime-time game scheduled to kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC is a game worth watching no matter what. Dallas enters Sunday night's game as a three-point home favorite over Minnesota, meaning it might as well be a toss-up in the eyes of Vegas.

Those who are picking the Cowboys to beat the Vikings (like Sporting News) likely are pointing to the more trustworthy quarterback. Dak Prescott has posted a passer rating of 100 or better in six of seven career games against NFC North opponents and generally plays well in prime time. Kirk Cousins, though he has played well on the road of late, generally struggles in these national TV games.

Also in the spotlight Sunday night will be the running backs. The Vikings' Dalvin Cook has seven games with 100 or more scrimmage yards in 2019, the most in NFL. The Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott has 24 games with 100 or more rushing yards since 2016, the most in NFL.

Below is all the info you need to watch Cowboys vs. Vikings on Sunday night, including the TV channels and kickoff time.

Who plays on Sunday Night Football tonight?

  • Matchup: Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys
  • Kickoff time: 8:20 p.m. ET

In both our Week 10 NFL picks against the spread and straight-up predictions, Sporting News projected a Cowboys victory Sunday night. Below are the explanations.

Pick against the spread: The Cowboys are a great home team in big games. The Vikings are a bad road team in big games. Dallas is coming off a short week, but Minnesota might run into the same defensive problems it had in Kansas City, only with a few more offensive limitations around Kirk Cousins. Dak Prescott will succeed stretching the field, and Ezekiel Elliott will help with several chunk runs. Cousins will succumb to the Cowboys' pass rush and coverage in crunch time. Pick: Cowboys win 31-20 and cover the spread.

Straight-up prediction: In theory, this game between two NFC contenders should be close, which is bad news for the team that has a quarterback with an 0-10-1 record when trailing in the fourth quarter with his current squad. That's Kirk Cousins, who has earned his reputation as a player who wilts in big, prime-time games. A Sunday night in Dallas, a spot in which Dak Prescott typically thrives, certainly qualifies. With both teams facing stingy defenses, the Cowboys will make more big plays. Prediction: Cowboys 28, Vikings 24.
