The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to take part in a joint practice with the Buffalo Bills this week before the two teams meet in the preseason Week 2 game on Saturday night, and that also meant that former Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool would play his first game in Pittsburgh since being traded.
However, that will not happen, as the Bills announced they have placed Claypool on season-ending injured reserve. It isn't clear what injury Claypool sustained, though.
Nevertheless, it's a devastating blow for the former second-round pick, who was hoping to revive his career in what is a wide-open situation at wide receiver in Buffalo.
The Notre Dame product showed some promise over his first two years in the NFL before reportedly becoming a "distraction" with the Steelers, which led to his being traded to the Chicago Bears during the 2022 season.

He then reportedly had issues in Chicago, which led to him being traded yet again, this time to the Miami Dolphins, where he wasn't able to get his career on track. He signed with Buffalo earlier this offseason.
One of the corresponding moves for the Bills was the signing of wide receiver Deon Cain, who is another former Steeler. Pittsburgh and Buffalo will kick off from Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 7 p..m. ET.
